Ustad Yakub Ali Khan fascinates ‘Sur Sagor’ prog

Nazrul Padak winner noted Nazrul Sangeet artiste Ustad Yakub Ali Khan once again enthralled the audience by singing songs in Bangladesh Television’s live musical programme titled ‘Sur Sagor’.

Last Thursday night, Ustad Yakub Ali Khan rendered songs in Bangladesh Television (BTV)’s programme ‘Sur Sagor’ with the charming presentation by Ruhani Labonno, the popular presenter of present time.

At the beginning of the programme, Ustad Yakub Ali Khan performed a country song titled ‘O Aamar Desher Mati’.

Then he performed two Islamic songs titled ‘Aamar Priyo Hazrat’ and ‘Ami Jodi Arab Hotam’.

Then he sang Kazi Nazrul Islam’s ghazal on ‘Bristhi’ titled ‘Rumajhuma Rumajhum’.

Then he served two thumri songs ‘E Kon Mayay’ and ‘Piya Swapne Esho Nirjone’ one by one. At the end, he sang another ghazal titled ‘Sadh Jage Mone’.

In the middle of the programme, Ustad Yakub Ali Khan reminisced about his life and sang the first song of his
college life titled ‘Mor Shunnyo Hridoy Debe Bhore’.

Ustad Yakub Ali Khan, the maestro of every song, spread fascination among the viewers. The audience enjoyed his
songs with great interest.

Ruhani Labonno’s aesthetic presentation in between the songs in the programme also impressed the audience.
Ruhani Labonno has proved the important role of a presenter in presenting an artiste.

Ustad Yakub Ali Khan told this correspondent, “My sincere gratitude and love to BTV authorities for regularising such a wonderful music programme.

We, the artistes, want to present the song to the audience in our own way. And BTV is the ultimate medium. Since it is the month of Ramadan, I have selected the song considering all aspects.

My sincere gratitude to the musicians, they played very well.

I give also thanks to Ruhani Labonno for her beautiful presentation in the programme.”

It is noted that played various musical instruments along with Ustad Yakub Ali Khan as
musicians in the programme were Sheikh Pulak on Octopad, Partha Pratim Acharya on
key-board, Pallab Sanyal on tabla, Moniruzzaman on flute, Shakil Mohammad Dipon
on acoustic guitar.
