A superb century by Usman Khan powered Chittagong Kings to earn a massive 105-run victory over Durbar Rajshahi in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Friday.
Usman Khan hammered a hurricane 123. His 62-ball outstanding innings was decorated with six sixes and 13 fours. It was the first century in this year’s BPL Cricket. Usman Khan was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Sent into bat first, Chittagong Kings piled up a mammoth total of 219 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then skittled out Durbar Rajshahi for 114 off 17.1 overs. Chittagong Kings scored the highest total in the ongoing BPL of the ‘Home of Cricket’.
Chittagong Kings had a sorrow start as opener Parvez Hossain Emon (0) was caught by Hasan Murad off Taskin Ahmed when Chittagong’s total was just one run.
Opener Usman Khan and one-down Graham Clark repaired the damage contributing together 120 for the second wicket partnership before Graham Clark was caught by Hasan Murad off Sohag Gazi when Chittagong’s total was 121 for the loss of two wickets.
Graham Clark hit a polished 40. He hit five fours and two sixes in his 25-ball innings.
After Clark’s dismissal, Usman Khan and Mohammad Mithun built another notable partnership adding together 63 runs in the third wicket stand before Mohammad Mithun was caught by Mohammad Haris off Ryan Burl when Chittagong’s score was 184 for the loss of three wickets.
Mohammad Mithun made 28 from 15 deliveries featuring two sixes and two fours.
Shamim Hossain (2) was dismissed by Shaiful Islam when Chittagong’s total was 190 for the loss of four wickets.
Usman Khan was caught by Hasan Murad off Taskin Ahmed when Chittagong’s total was 201 for the loss of five wickets.
Haider Ali remained unbeaten with 19 runs. His eight-ball knock had two fours and a sixer.
Taskin Ahmed bagged a pair of wickets in the space of 22 runs, while Sohag Gazi, Ryan Burl and Shafiul Islam got one wicket each conceding 28, 37 and 46 runs respectively.
Later, Opener Mohammad Haris was the only batter of Durbar Rajshahi who could score a notable score. He hit a stormy 32 using 15 deliveries with three sixes and two fours.
Aliss Islam, Arafat Sunny, Mohammad Wasim and Shoriful Islam played the key role in wrecking Rajshahi’s innings.
Aliss Islam and Arafat Sunny captured three wickets each instead of 17 and 23 runs respectively, while Mohammad Wasim and Shoriful Islam claimed two wickets each for 24 and 25 runs respectively.
