A three-member BNP delegation led by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will attend the US Annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC.
The other two members are BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Barrister Zaima Rahman, daughter of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury departed for the United States on Sunday evening to attend the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.
According to BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan, they boarded an Emirates Airlines flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:40 pm. The two leaders are expected to return to Bangladesh on February 9.
Speaking to UNB before departure, Fakhrul stated, “The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event held in the United States. Our party’s Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, has also been invited. Since he is unable to attend, his daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman, will represent him.”
Fakhrul added that Zaima would travel to Washington from London to join the gathering.
Responding to a query, he mentioned that they are likely to engage in discussions with leaders from various countries, including the United States, on the sidelines of the event.
The National Prayer Breakfast, set to take place on February 5-6 in Washington, D.C., serves as a platform for global and national leaders to engage in dialogue. Organized by the US Congress, the event fosters discussions on faith, leadership, and international issues.
On January 11, the National Prayer Breakfast Committee extended invitations to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury to participate in the event.
