Dengue deaths and cases are increasing at an abnormal rate. The deaths from the disease recorded the highest number at 12 in a single day on Sunday (September 21).

This month has also seen the highest number of deaths this year.

Experts and concerned circles are considering September, October and November as the months with the highest risk of dengue infection. For some days, various considerations have been saying that there is at least double the risk of patients and deaths in September than in August.

Taking this concern and horror seriously, how can we prevent the increase in infections?
Focusing on how to reduce the risk of death should be one of the main activities. It is very unfortunate that it has not been sufficiently noticed.

As a result, the number of deaths and new dengue cases is increasing day by day. Another scary thing is that it is not confined to any place or any particular season or time. This problem is now prevalent throughout the country and all year round.

The new concern is that it is now gradually increasing in the villages. Concerned people are warning that if well-planned and effective measures are not taken now, it will create long-term suffering in rural areas in the future, which we are completely inadequate in our ability to deal with.

Even though the monsoon season is over, the severity of dengue is not decreasing but is increasing at an abnormal rate. In the first 19 days of this month, 45 people have died from dengue, which is the highest during the season.

It is a matter of great regret that in the last two decades, not a little effort has been made to investigate and take steps to combat dengue. In particular, hundreds of crores of taka have been spent on mosquito control in the two city corporations of Dhaka. Nothing has been done.

And now this outbreak is not only in Dhaka or Chittagong, but has spread to the villages as well. It has been seen that when problems arise, attempts are made to solve them quickly
We believe that the failure to control dengue is largely due to the lack of political will and shortsightedness of those concerned.

Now is the time to take a comprehensive and long-term plan to control dengue. Otherwise, it goes without saying that the number of deaths will increase along with the suffering of people.
