Up POLLS Three candidates kidnapped in Natore

In a span of five hours, there have been allegations of the abduction of Delowar Hossain and his brother, who wanted to be candidates for the post of chairman in the Singra Upazila Parishad elections in Natore.

Potential candidate Lutful Habib is being blamed for this abduction incident. Lutful Habib is Joint General Secretary of the Upazila Awami League and Chairman of the Shercol Union Parishad.

He is the brother-in-law of Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak. In this regard, Lutful was called several times, but he did not pick up.

Singra police station and victims’ family sources said that Lutful Habib submitted his nomination papers for the post of chairman in the upazila parishad elections. None of his rivals have filed their nomination papers until Sunday. On Monday morning, Delowar visited a computer shop in the Natore station area to file his nomination papers online.

At that time, his elder brother and joint general secretary of Kalam Union Awami League, Emdadul Haque, and Alauddin Munshi, general secretary of Kalam Union Awami League, also came along with him to deposit the security money in the bank. When they came in front of the Natore district election office to know the code number, some youths in a black microbus stopped them. At one stage, they forced them into the microbus and took them away.

Since then, their mobile phones have been switched off.

Meanwhile, at 3:32 p.m., Hasan Imam, the president of the Upazila Swachhasevak League, told the media over the phone that he had taken the two missing Awami League leaders to their home in a microbus.
