United Nations Youth and Student Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) organised an event titled “Eid for Street Children 2023” at the IBA auditorium on the Dhaka University premises in the capital on Thursday.
This year UNYSAB hosted 100 street children from the Rayer Bazar Slum area’s community school “Gyaner Pathshala” and provided them with Iftar meals, and brand-new Eid garments along with Eid cards among those little children.
The event was presided over by Nahim Razzaq, Member of Parliament and the Special Guest was Dr. Md. Iftekharul Amin, Associate Professor of IBA. President of UNYSAB Md. Jahidul Islam inaugurated the event and stated that “The motto of UNYSAB is ‘Leadership through volunteerism’ means volunteerism brings out our leadership qualities to serve the nation and serve the world”.
United Nations Youth and Student Association of Bangladesh-UNYSAB intend to provide support and care to street children as UNYSAB believes in UN philosophy. Chief Guest Van Nguyen, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP overwhelmingly shared her childhood memories and wished everyone for Eid and Bengali New Year.
UNYSAB aims to continue this event among unprivileged children in various locations of Dhaka. They have also distributed clothes and Eid cards among their divisional wings including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Chittagong, and Barisal.
