The body of an unidentified young man was recovered from the Shitalakshya River near the Bandar ferry terminal area in Narayanganjcity.
Locals spotted the body floating in the river around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and informed the police.
Upon receiving the information, the Sadar River Police retrieved the body and sent it to Narayanganj General (Victoria) Hospital morgue forautopsy. At the time of recovery, the body was completely unclothed.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar River Police Station A.K.M. Aminul Haque said the deceased was approximately 19 years old.
No signs of injury were found on the body, but there were several indications of drug use.
Efforts are underway to identify the victim. Whether it was a case of murder or an accident will be confirmed after the postmortem report, the OC added.
