Unidentified biker opens fire at students in Gazipur

The shooting took place on Saturday night after Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah left Gazipur city after attending protests against Friday night’s attack.
One student was injured as an unidentified individual fired shots at members of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement in Gazipur city on Saturday.
Meanwhile, OC was withdrawn and police commissioner apologised for the incident.
The incident took place on Rajbari Road at around 6:30pm when members of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement were gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office following daylong protests.
Locals said students were protesting in this area throughout the day today to protest the attack on students last night (7 February). In the afternoon, Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam, two leaders of the Student Movement, participated in the programmes.
They said an unidentified individual riding a motorcycle, who came from the west side bank of Raj Dighi, fired one round at the students and fled.
Deputy Commissioner Riaz said a police team was sent to the spot and an investigation was underway.
