UNESCO and Windmill Advertising Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to preserve, promote, and commercialize rickshaw art.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at UNESCO’s Dhaka Head Office on 6th March, 2025. The agreement was signed by on behalf of UNESCO by Head of Office and Representative Susan Vize and Windmill Advertising Limited Managing Director Sabbir Rahman Tanim.
The agreement is designed to launch a collaborative project named ‘Rickshaw Painting: Expanding the Canvas’. This project aims to preserve, promote, and commercialize rickshaw art and to support sustainable livelihoods for rickshaw artists, giving it the recognition it deserves on both national and global platforms.
Through exhibitions, workshops, merchandise, digital outreach, and educational programs, we seek to ensure its continuity while economically empowering rickshaw artists. This initiative provides a rare opportunity for corporate partners to contribute to cultural preservation while gaining extensive brand visibility through large-scale events, digital media and exclusive collaborations.
The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures including UNESCO’s Head of Culture, Kizzy Tahnin, and Windmill Advertising Limited’s Head of Strategic Planning, Schumonn Patwary.
