Uncertainty looms over KDA housing project for low-income people
Khulna Bureau :
In the proposed budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the Khulna Development Authority (KDA) has proposed to construct 440 flats in 22 buildings with six floors in the Harintana area near Khulna city at a cost of Tk 18,513 crore for low-income people. But there is uncertainty, although the proposed budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year was passed, the work has not started yet.
KDA launched this project with a GOB loan of Tk 18 crore 513 lakh from January 2025 to June 2027.
A plan has been taken to construct 440 flats for housing facilities for slum dwellers and low-income people.
The project’s verification committee meeting was held on October 4, 2023 with a GOB loan. In light of the decision in that meeting, the fully formed DPT Ministry has sent it to the Planning Commission for approval on November 21, 2023. The ministry has sent a letter on January 12 of this year for processing the DPP of the project to be included in the priority project through the project. The KD project is included in the ADP green letter for the fiscal year 2024-25.
Advocate Babul Howlader, member secretary of the Khulna civil society, said that all projects are running slowly, neglecting to fulfill their responsibilities.
And if such a fat is built, the poor people will get a place to rest their heads. This is a good initiative, so I request you to start it soon.
Khulna Development Authority Executive Engineer (CDA) Mortoza Al Mamun said that the Khulna Development Authority has passed the budget with a proposal to construct 22 buildings with 440 flats in six blocks.
These will be built for the 2nd and 3rd class people.
