Nilphamari Correspondent :
The busy Badiyar Mor area, an important junction connecting Nilphamari’s Jaldhaka, Domar, and Panchagarh-bound roads, had long been plagued by illegal shops, hawkers, occupied footpaths, waste accumulation, and a disorderly rickshaw stand.
These issues caused persistent traffic congestion and created an unhealthy environment for residents and commuters.
To address the situation, a major eviction drive was carried out under the directive of Nilphamari Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zahidul Islam, PPM.
The operation was initiated by Additional Superintendent of Police (Circle) Faruk Ahmed, PPM-Service, in coordination with the Roads and Highways Department (RHD), an executive magistrate team, the traffic division, and the local market committee.
During the drive, illegal shops and hawker stalls built on roads and footpaths were dismantled, and the chaotic rickshaw stand was removed. As a result, movement through this key intersection has already started returning to normal.
According to the district police, the primary goals of the operation were to ease traffic congestion, ensure safe movement for pedestrians, maintain a healthy environment, and improve urban management.
Authorities also stated that similar operations will continue regularly to keep the city and its roads well-organized.
