University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr. S. M. A. Fayez has expressed optimism about reaching a logical and amicable solution to the ongoing issues concerning the seven government colleges affiliated with Dhaka University.
Speaking at an Iftar gathering organized by the Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh (ERAB) at Hotel La Vinci in Karwan Bazar, he acknowledged the cooperation received from all stakeholders and stated that a well-structured resolution is expected soon.
“Any success of UGC is a result of our collective efforts. Feel free to point out our mistakes and extend your support. We are a part of you and will continue to provide all necessary cooperation,” Dr. Fayez stated.
During the event, Dr. K. M. Kabirul Islam emphasized the need to build a corruption-free and discrimination-free nation, urging journalists to contribute to this cause through their reporting.
Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain praised ERAB members for their constructive criticism and responsible news coverage, highlighting how media scrutiny helps in institutional improvement.
National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. S. M. Amanullah acknowledged the crucial role journalists played in stabilizing the National University’s situation after the challenges faced post-August 5. He emphasized that media support was instrumental in overcoming hurdles.
The event was presided over by ERAB President Faruq Hossain and conducted by General Secretary Solamain Salman, with active participation from ERAB.
