Students from the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) and Viquarunnesa Noon College (VNC) formed a human chain in front of their campuses on Monday, protesting the alarming rise in crime rates across the city.
The students are demanding immediate action from authorities to address the escalating issues of rape, murder, and mugging in the area.
The peaceful protest, which
began at noon, saw students holding hands and chanting slogans calling for safer environments on and around their campuses.
With posters and banners in hand, the demonstrators urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take stronger measures to prevent violent crimes, particularly against women and students.
“We are tired of feeling unsafe in our own neighborhood,” said one of the students of UAP. “Every day we hear news about violent crimes happening around us. We demand action now.” he said.
The protest comes amid a growing concern about the increase in crimes, which has sparked fear among students and residents.
Local authorities have yet to respond to the protesters’ demands, but community leaders have expressed support for the initiative.
