An orientation workshop on the typhoid vaccination campaign was held with media workers of Joypurhat district under the awareness campaign for the development of children, adolescents and women and in collaboration with UNICEF Bangladesh.
The workshop was organized on Monday morning at the conference room of the Joypurhat Civil Surgeon’s Office. Various media workers from the district participated in it. Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Al Mamun delivered the address as the chief guest at the orientation workshop.
Among others, Masriyat Jahan Barsha, Assistant Director of the Department of Mass Communication, Sajedur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation, Md. Ibrahim Molla Sumon, District Information Officer, Dr. Zubair Md. Al Faisal, President of Joypurhat Press Club, Abu Bakr Siddique, and General Secretary Masud Rana spoke at the event.
It was informed in the workshop that the typhoid vaccination campaign will start on October 12. All children aged 9 months to 15 years, adolescents or those studying in pre-primary to ninth grade will be given one dose of typhoid vaccine free of charge. A target of 226,000 children and adolescents has been set for typhoid vaccination in this district. So far Monday morning, 106,000 have registered online. The target may be met before the campaign starts. AI is being used to spread misinformation about this vaccine on Facebook. There will be no problem in getting this vaccine. Media workers are urged to play an active role in motivating the people to take this vaccine.
