The typhoid vaccination program has started in Chittagong like the rest of the country.
The target of 24lac 342 children in Chattagram city and 15 upazilas has been set to be vaccinated against typhoid. The campaign will continue at the school level till October 31.
On Sunday the program was inaugurated by Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain at the premises of Gul-Ezar Begum Muslim City Corporation Girls High School in Chandanpura.
At the time, he said, it costs Tk 1,400 to give this vaccine personally, but we are giving it free of cost. The most effective way to prevent typhoid is to get vaccinated.
Guardians should be aware that every child in the city comes under this vaccination. The City Corporation is committed to ensuring improved healthcare for every citizen of Chattagram city.
According to the local health department, out of 24, 61,342 children, 829,301 will be vaccinated in the city corporation area and 16, 32,041 in 15 upazilas.
All children aged 9 months to 15 years and students from pre-primary to ninth grade will be able to get this vaccine free of charge under the vaccination program.
