Two individuals implicated in the murder of Jhenaidah-4 constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar have escaped to the USA and Nepal, said Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, Additional Commissioner (DB Chief) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Harun-or-Rashid addressed reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday afternoon, revealing the latest developments in the case.
“We believe that the pieces of meat recovered from the septic tank in Kolkata belong to MP Anar, considering the statements of the accused arrested in Bangladesh and India and other surrounding incidents,” he stated.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has reached out to the West Bengal CID to request the arrest of the suspected killers. Approximately four kilogrammes of meat were discovered in a septic tank at Sanjeeva Garden in Kolkata.
“The mystery will be unearthed after the DNA test of the meat,” Harun-or-Rashid added.
The Additional Commissioner recently traveled to Kolkata as part of the ongoing investigation to identify those involved in the murder of MP Anar.
