Two individuals, including a teenage boy, were found dead with their throats slit on a vacant residential plot in the Gulshan area of Dhaka on Friday night.
The victims have been identified as Rafique, 80, from Barisal district, and Sabbir, 16, from Mymensingh district. According to local residents, Rafique was responsible for looking after the plot and had set up a tea stall there, where Sabbir worked as an assistant.
Touhid Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of Gulshan Police Station, confirmed that the bodies were discovered on Road No. 108 in Gulshan-2 on Friday night. “It appears that the victims were killed with sharp weapons on Thursday night, and their bodies were left at the scene,” he said.
The bodies have been sent to Dhaka Medical College for autopsy after completing the necessary legal procedures.
The police are actively investigating the murders, with assistance from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the killings, the OC added.
