Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer ABM Ariful Islam on Wednesday conducted a mobile court in two cosmetic shops at the upazila headquarters and fined concerned shopkeepers Tk 27,000 for selling fake and date-expired proudest.
The raid was carried out in Solan Cosmetics and Family Fair Cosmetics on the central Jame Masjid-Kalibari Road in the Old Bus Station area.
Mobile court sources said in the last few days, the executive officer ABM Ariful also conducted raid against illegal soil extraction from river, crop land and hill. He collected a fine of Tk 12 lakh in this regard.
The raid was conducted on the basis of complaints received from local customers. The administration came to know that several cosmetic shops in the Upazila Sadar were selling fake cosmetic products using labels of different Indian products.
In this regard, Mobile Court Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer ABM Ariful Islam said that by conducting raids on cosmetics shops, two shop owners were fined.
He also said that in the last few days, various cases have been filed against the soil traders for illegal extraction of soil by conducting raids in different areas.
