Two people drowned in separate incidents on Tuesday afternoon in Hajiganj Upazila.
The deceased were identified as Alifa Begum (3 yrs), daughter of Ali Hossain , a resident of Kirtonkhola village and Dulal Hossain(50), a resident of Kakoirtola village under Gondorvo union in Hajiganj Upazila.
Dulal was reportedly a patient who had no mental balance. He was suffering from epilepsy for a long time.
Alifa suddenly went missing while playing with her playmates around her home. Actually she drowned. Later, after frantic search, she was found floating in the nearby pond adjacent to her home. She was rushed to the local Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared her dead.
According to the close kin, Dulal went to have bath in a pond adjacent to his home. But he was not returning even after an hour. Then close relatives, being worried, started to search for him. Later his body was found floating near the pond ghat at 4 pm. At once he was rushed to the local Upazila Health Complex where he was declared dead.
Hajiganj Thana’s OC Abdur Rashid confirmed both the reports adding that no complaint was filed in these regards. So, no case was filed in this connection.
