Turkish deputy FM meets Jamaat Ameer

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister A. Beris Ekinci paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen and two other senior diplomats accompanied him during the meeting.

The meeting took place at the Ameer’s residence in the Bashundhara Residential Area on Monday afternoon. The Deputy Foreign Minister arrived at the Ameer’s residence at 3:28 PM and left at 4:30 PM. Following the meeting, Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar told reporters that the Ameer expressed satisfaction over the visit. The Turkish delegation inquired about the Ameer’s health and medical condition. The Ameer, in turn, congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his leadership and initiatives in support of the Palestinian people.

Golam Parwar added that the Deputy Foreign Minister sought to know about Bangladesh’s July uprising. The Ameer recalled with great interest the student-led movement during that time, mentioning that around 1,200 students and citizens lost their lives and some 25,000-30,000 were injured. He highlighted Jamaat-e-Islami’s humanitarian assistance and compassion extended to the victims and their families.

The meeting and breakfast discussion were held on Monday at the Ameer’s office in Bashundhara, Dhaka. According to the party, the meeting took place in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Plana inquired about the Ameer’s health and wished him a full recovery.

During the meeting, both sides held an open discussion on the prevailing situation in Bangladesh and on issues of bilateral interest between Bangladesh and Kosovo. The Kosovar Ambassador expressed optimism that his country would continue to extend strong support to Bangladesh in the future.
