Central Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has claimed that a conspiracy is underway to disrupt the upcoming national election under the pretext of introducing the Proportional Representation (PR) system.
“People are familiar with the traditional voting method and prefer it.
The PR system is being used as a tool to create confusion and hinder the electoral process,” Tuku told reporters on Thursday during a views-exchange meeting with BNP grassroots leaders from 12 unions of Tangail Sadar.
He further said, “The national election is not the same as student politics.
We must stay united. The people of Bangladesh have already rejected PR. No force will be able to stop the election. It will be held on schedule, Inshallah.”
Tuku also stressed the need for unity in Tangail to ensure peace and development. “We want a Tangail free from extortion, violence, and disorder,” he added.
The meeting was presided over by Azgar Ali, President of Tangail Sadar Upazila BNP.
Former District BNP Member Secretary Mahmudul Hasan Sanu, former JCD General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Shafik, Advocate Azim Uddin Biplob, and other union-level leaders were prsent.
