Following Elon Musk's interest in visiting Dhaka: Trump’s partner Gentry eager to invest in Bangladesh

US President Donald Trump’s business associate, Gentry Beach, has expressed a strong interest in investing in mineral and gas exploration in Bangladesh.
His visit follows earlier speculation regarding Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s potential participation in a Bangladesh investment summit, further sparking discussions about increasing foreign investment opportunities in the country.
During a meeting held at a Dhaka hotel on Thursday, Beach outlined his investment aspirations to political leaders, an adviser to the interim government, and senior officials from the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
Beach, a long-standing family business associate of Donald Trump, is visiting Bangladesh for a brief one-day trip.
As part of his visit, he attended a luncheon organised by BIDA, which was attended by key stakeholders, including advisers to the interim government and prominent political figures.
Addressing the gathering, Beach highlighted his interest in exploring investment opportunities across various sectors.
“I have come to Bangladesh to present some investment proposals. We are particularly interested in the development sector.
At the same time, discussions on peace and prosperity are also crucial.
With Donald Trump assuming leadership in America, new opportunities have arisen for business, trade, and investment-both in Bangladesh and globally-which we seek to capitalise on,” he stated.
The luncheon was attended by Jamaat Naib-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, who confirmed Beach’s focus on Bangladesh’s energy sector.
“They are primarily exploring investment opportunities for the United States, with a particular emphasis on minerals and gas exploration,” Taher remarked.
Adviser Mahfuz Alam noted that investment-related matters would undergo further scrutiny before any final decisions are made. “Detailed discussions between BIDA and Beach will take place before any commitments are finalised,” he said.
This development follows earlier rumours about Elon Musk’s possible visit to Bangladesh for an investment summit, where he was speculated to explore ventures in infrastructure, energy, and technology.
While Musk’s visit has yet to be confirmed, Beach’s interest highlights the growing appeal of Bangladesh as an investment destination for high-profile global investors.
