Travel ban on eight ex-ministers

A Dhaka court on Tuesday imposed a travel ban on eight former ministers and six former members of parliament (MPs) from the previous Awami League government, following a request by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The eight former ministers who are now restricted from traveling are Jahid Maleque, Dr. Dipu Moni, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Sadhan Chandra Mazumder, Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Kamal Ahmed Mazumder, Shahjahan Khan and Qamrul Islam

The six former MPs who are under the travel ban are Solim Uddin, Mamunur Rashid Kiron, Kujendro Lal Tripura, Qazim Uddin, Nur E Alam Chowdhury and Ziaur Rahman.

The travel restrictions were issued in connection with ongoing investigations by the ACC, although specific details regarding the allegations were not immediately available.
