Travel ban imposed on Mirza Azam, Nixon, Wadud

A court here on Wednesday imposed a travel ban on former lawmakers Mirza Azam, Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury (Nixon) and his wife Tarin Hossain and Md Abdul Wadud and his wife Marjina Wadud.

Acting judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Ibrahim Miah passed the orders, accepting two separate pleas from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Deputy director of ACC Md Salauddin filed the plea for imposing a travel ban on Mirza Azam, Nixon Chowdhury and his wife Tarin Hossain, while deputy director Rezaul Karim through another petition, pleaded to slap a travel embargo on Abdul Wadud and his wife Marjina Wadud.

ACC public prosecutors Mir Ahmed Ali Salam and Mahmud Hossain Jahangir moved the two pleas respectively before the court. Mirza Azam is a Bangladeshi politician and Organizing Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League.

He has been elected Member of Parliament six times and has served as State Minister for Textiles and Jute. He was General Secretary of Bangladesh Jubo League.
