The renovation work of Kuragacha Rail Bridge near Dilpasha railway station in Bhangura upazila of Pabna on Dhaka-Ishwardi route was completed on Friday. As a result, from Saturday (June 8), train movement has started here at normal speed.
It is known that the railway bridge built inside of Chalanbil in 1915-16 due to the damage of the pillars and trains were running over it at risk for a long time. As a result, the railway engineering department was issued a warning. For almost a year the driver stopped the train while crossing the bridge and slowed down. It would have taken a lot of time. Later the Railway Department took the initiative to renovate the bridge. For this purpose 4 crore 44 lakh taka was allocated. The project is implemented by the railway’s contractor organization called RTC.
Liakot Sharif Khan, Additional Chief Engineer of Western Railway said, trains could not run at normal speed here for a long time. He also said that the train is running over this bridge at a fixed speed from today Saturday. Yesterday, engineer Alamgir Kabir of the contracting company RTC handed over the bridge to the senior officials of the railways.
At this time, Additional Chief Engineer of Western Railway Liakot Sharif Khan, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shah Sufi Noor Mohammad, Bridge Engineer Abdur Rahim, Pakshi Railway Divisional Engineer (DN-2) Birbal Mandal were present.
It should be noted that 50/60 thousand passengers travel daily on this railway in various local and inter-city trains including Dhaka-Kolkata Moitri Express. As a result of repairing the damaged bridge, risk-free train movement was ensured again.
