Regional agricultural research centre of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) Burirhat in Rangpur and Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI) jointly organised the five-day event is funded by Mass Rearing Technique of Tricogramma.
CABI Plantwise Representatives Dr. Belinda Mary Knowles, Dr. Dirk Bavendrier, Maisie Rose Morris, IOI Bangladesh Representative Dr. Muhammad Saleh Ahmed Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute Gazipur Entomology Department Head and Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Nirmal Kumar Dutta, and Regional Agricultural Research Center BRI Chief Scientific Officer and Acting Officer Dr. Muhammad Kamrul Islam. Trichogramma is a parasitic beneficial insect.
It is possible to control various types of harmful lepidopteran pests through the use of this insect. This training was organized with the aim of large-scale production of this beneficial Trichogramma insect.
If it is possible to produce this beneficial insect on a large scale, it is expected that the farmers of this region will be able to play an important role in controlling harmful insects of crops through it. Also present were scientists from the Department of Entomology.
