Training on climate change begins at DU

block

A three-day long training programme on “Strategic Environmental Assessment of Climate Change Adaptation Options in Bangladesh (SEACCAOB)” began at Nabab Nowab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday.
The training organized by the Department of Anthropology of Dhaka University (DU) in cooperation with Bangladesh Climate Change Trust (BCCT) of the Ministry of Environment and Forest.DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
Chairman of the Department of Anthropology Hasan A. Shafie presided over the inaugural function while Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment & Forests Md Nurul Karim, Managing Director of BCCT Engineer Jnan Ranjan Sil and Chief (Planning) of the Ministry of Education Swapan Kuman Ghosh addressed it as special guests.
Project Director of SEACCAOB Prof Dr Zahidul Islam delivered welcome
speech. Assistant Prof of the Department of Anthropology Dr S M Arif Mahmud
conducted the programme.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad stressed the need
for producing more skilled work forces to create awareness among the people
on climate change adaptation in the country.
She urged the researchers to conduct more research on climate change
issues to reduce risk in this regard.
