In a concerted effort to uphold traffic regulations and ensure road safety, the Traffic Wari Division executed a targeted operation against illegal modifications in vehicles. Led by DC (Traffic-Wari) Mohammad Ashraf Imam and supervised by ADC (Traffic-Wari) Sultana Ishrat Jahan, the operation, spearheaded by AC (Traffic-Demra zone) Mustain Billah Ferdous’ team, took place from 07:00 PM to 9:30 PM on May 8th, 2024, at Matuail U-loop on Chittagong Road.
The crackdown, conducted under the purview of the Road Transport Act 2018, resulted in enforcement actions against six vehicles found in violation of regulations.
Among these, two vehicles were cited for illegal stickers, three for illegal beacon or flicker lights, and one for illegal hydraulic horns.
An analysis of raid records revealed egregious violations, including the misuse of beacon lights bearing the name of a former upazila chairman, a covered van unlawfully outfitted with beacon lights, and a member of the Zilla Parishad employing beacon lights in a company vehicle. Additionally, a company vehicle equipped with a hydraulic horn falsely attributed to a Member of Parliament faced consequences.
Further transgressions addressed during the operation included a vehicle displaying a police sticker and another adorned with a BGMEA sticker, associated with a garments factory.
DC Traffic Wari emphasized that this campaign is part of ongoing efforts by the Commissioner, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, to maintain order on the roads and uphold traffic laws. The initiative underscores the commitment to fostering safer road environments and deterring unlawful vehicle modifications.
As the crackdown persists, motorists are urged to adhere to prescribed regulations to promote road safety and contribute to a smoother traffic experience for all.
