The Dhaka-Chittagong Highway has been brought to a standstill on Sunday as students continue their non-cooperation movement protesting against discrimination. Since Sunday morning, commuters have faced severe disruptions, particularly in the Siddhirganj section of the highway.
The protest has effectively halted all traffic movement along the highway.
During a visit to the Shimrail intersection, it was evident that long-distance vehicles were not operational, leaving the highway deserted except for auto-rickshaws.

Earlier attempts by trucks and covered vans to travel towards Chittagong were thwarted by the protesting students, exacerbating the roadblock situation.

Similarly, Shawon, who had an urgent trip to Dhaka, had to rely on multiple auto-rickshaws to reach his destination due to the lack of other transport options.
Traffic Inspector AKM Sharfuddin acknowledged the disruption, stating that the highway has been blocked since early morning, resulting in minimal traffic since the previous night.
Efforts are underway to restore normal traffic flow, though the situation remains tense with no immediate resolution in sight.
As the standoff continues, commuters are advised to seek alternative routes or make arrangements considering the ongoing protest action.
