Traditional Manipuri Maharasalila ends

Maharaslila, the biggest and traditional religious festival of the Manipuris, concluded in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar with a medley of dance and songs. The event concluded early Thursday morning.
The colourful Raslila dance on Kartik Purnima, thousands of people from home and abroad enjoyed this festival.
On Wednesday, men, women, children and teenagers from different parts of the country, including people of various professions, arrived in Kamalganj.
The Manipuri neighbourhoods became bustling with their walk from morning.
With the sunrise on Thursday, the event ended.
The Maharasotsav was organised by the Bishnupriya Manipuri community at the Madhabpur Jora Mandap ground in the upazila, and the Manipuri Mi-Tai community at the Manipuri Cultural Complex ground in Adampur.
Like every time, this time too, the administration has organised a strict security measures were taken.
A huge fair was held with various arrangements. On the occasion of the 183rd anniversary of the Vishnupriya Manipuri, organised by the Manipuri Maharaslila Seva Sangha at the Joramandap ground in Madhabpur (Shibbazar),cultural programmes were held at night.
On the other hand, the 40th separate festival of Bishnupriya Manipuri and Mi-Tai Manipuri was held in Adampur village.
Shyam Singh, general secretary of Manipuri Maharaslila Seva Sangha, said, “Madhabpur Joramandap Rasotsav is an exceptional event within the department. Thousands of people come here regardless of religion or caste.
The traditional Ras festival of the colourful and artistically renowned Manipuri community brings everyone together.
‘Raslila of the Manipuris’ there are many types. Nityaras, Kunjaras, Basantaras, Maharas, Beniras or Dibaras. Maharas is also called Purnimaras by the Manipuris as it is celebrated on the full moon day of autumn.
He further said, On the occasion of this festival, for about 15-20 days. We have worked on preparations. The army, police, RAB and BGB were deployed for the security of the festival.”
