Salman F Rahman, the Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has said that traders, who have incurred loss in Bangabazar fire incident, will be given financial assistance after making a list within the next 3-4 days, and support will be given based on the amount of estimated losses.
He said this while talking to the reporters after visiting the spot on Thursday noon.
The market will be cleaned and the makeshift shops will be opened temporarily at least till Eid-ul-fitr, F Rahman said.
Meanwhile, traders have started working to open Banga Homeo Complex and Banga Islamia Market, two major markets of the areas by next Saturday which were partially damaged in the massive fire last Tuesday.
Electricity connection has not been given to these buildings yet. However, removal of fire-damaged items, cleaning work and painting of walls have started.
Traders say that piles of burnt clothes will be removed in front of the market within next two days. Discussion has also been held with the South City Corporation authorities regarding the opening of the market. On Thursday afternoon (April 6), such a picture was seen while visiting Bangabazar and surrounding areas.
Mohammad Shafiq had two shops on the ground floor of Banga Homeo Market. The work of changing the shutters and painting the walls is going on in his shop.
Narrating the update, Shafiq told the media that only 2-3 shops were burnt in this market. The shutters of many shops were damaged by the heat of the fire. AC is also damaged due to the heat. If these are fixed, the market will be opened soon. Hopefully we may open the market by next Saturday, trader Shafiq said.
