Traders submit memorandum against terrorists

A memorandum has been submitted to Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Sheikh Russel Hasan regarding harassment of traders by terrorists on the way to and from various markets with sugar, onions, vegetables and other goods trucks and various vehicles in various areas including Kalighat of Sylhet city.
Leaders of Sylhet Traders Association and Vehicle Control Coordination Council and Sylhet District Truck-Pickup, Covered Van Workers Union, Sylhet Trade Center Vegetable Market and Haji Nawab Ali Sabzi Market submit memorandum at Sylhet DC office on Thursday.
This memorandum was presented to Sylhet Deputy Commissioner, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner and Superintendent of Police.
Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Tahmin Ahmed, Sylhet Business Association President Md. Ziaul Haque, General Secretary Haji Md. Dilwar Hossain, Senior Vice President of Traffic Control Coordinating Council Abdur Gaffar Mintu, General Secretary of the Councilor Nazrul, among others, were present. Leaders of various businessmen and labor organizations also took part in the presentation of the memorandum.
In the memorandum, it is mentioned that in 1989, Sylhet Business Association comprising of 7 areas, Kalighat, Laldighirpar, Amjad Ali Road, Shahchat Road, Mahajanpatti, Chaul Bazar, Dakbangla Road is famous as the oldest commercial area of Sylhet Division. Every day from the oldest wholesale market, various small and big vehicles including trucks deliver daily necessities including foodstuffs to the different markets of Sylhet district and Sylhet division. Sylhet Traders Association was established in 1990 in order to facilitate the movement of the people of 3 neighborhoods (Kamalgarh, Rhamarpar, Machimpur) and to solve the traffic congestion problem and considering the overall safety of the larger commercial area. And a separate organization named “Vehicle Control Coordination Council” was formed by the public of the neighboring 3 neighborhoods and the Sylhet District Truck, Pickup, Covered Van Workers’ Union.
