The Towhidi Janata of Sylhet gave an ultimatum to remove the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the office of the Sylhet Deputy Commissioner within the next 3 days.
The ultimatum was given at a protest march on Thursday demanding the removal of the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the office of the Sylhet Deputy Commissioner.
The protest march started from the Collector Jame Mosque in Bandar Bazar and after parading various roads of the city, it met at the rally at City Point.
The speakers at the rally said that there cannot be any statue or mural of any person except in a religious place of worship in the holy land of Sylhet, the holy land of Shahjalal-Shahparan.
In the eyes of Islam, installing a mural or statue of any person is unlawful and forbidden. Such forbidden and un-Islamic work cannot be allowed to take place on the land of Sylhet. The religious people of Sylhet are now demanding the removal of this mural.
The authorities of the Sylhet District Commissioner’s Office will have to remove the mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the premises of their office within the next 3 days.
The general religious people of Sylhet will not sit silently until this mural is removed.
