A discussion meeting titled “What to do for the development of tourism in the upazila” was held in Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet. This discussion meeting was organized by the Jaintapur Upazila Administration and was held at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom.
This discussion meeting was held on Tuesday (May 13) afternoon. The meeting was chaired by Jaintapur Upazila Executive Officer George Mitra Chakma.
Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad spoke as the chief guest.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet (Revenue) Hossain Mohammad Al-Junayed, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jaintapur Ms. Farzana Akhter Laboni, Officer-in-Charge of Jaintapur Model Police Station Abul Basar Mohammad Badruzzaman, UFHPO of Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex Dr. A Mohammad Farukh were also present as special guests.
At this time, officials of various departments, Union Parishad Chairman, leaders of political parties, leaders of small ethnic groups, journalist leaders, tourism and resort related businessmen and stakeholders present before the chief guest presented various proposals and problems regarding tourism.
At this time, proposals for tourism-friendly development in Lalakhal and Sarinadir areas, one of the tourist attractions of Jaintapur Upazila, were presented. In addition, the issue of public suffering due to the slow pace of road development work in DBirhaor Lal Shapla Beel was highlighted. In addition, adequate security arrangements along the highway, installation of dustbins, opening up empty hills next to tea gardens for visitors, construction of a ghat to visit tourist places by boat during the rainy season in the Darvast area, planting pineapple and lemon saplings on the hills in various areas including Charikatha Union, were called upon to make it attractive.
In addition, various proposals were presented in the exchange of views for the conservation of the megalithic stones, the holders of the history and heritage of the Jainta state, the development of Jainteshwari Rajbari and archaeology.
At this time, the chief guest Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad thanked everyone present at the exchange of views and said that Jaintapur is a potential tourism-friendly upazila. He said that the government will work seriously to solve all the problems and proposals raised in today’s exchange of views. He called on the government and the general public to work to promote the tourism sector in Jaintapur throughout the country. He also said that Jaintapur’s tourism is your own asset. Along with the government, the people of the upazila have to play an important role in promoting and maintaining this asset. He said that the Citrus Research Center is a government asset of Jaintapur. But its promotion is comparatively less. Moreover, he instructed the concerned to develop fruit farming in the uncultivated hilly lands and make it attractive. He also instructed the Upazila LGRD to proceed with the road renovation work of Shapla Beel as soon as possible and reduce public suffering.
