For the past few days, there had been speculation that Tollywood actress Parno Mittra was set to switch parties and join a new political platform. Putting an end to the speculation, she has now begun a new political journey. On Friday, Parno Mittra officially left the BJP and joined West Bengal’s ruling party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Parno Mittra joined the party at the TMC office in the presence of Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya and Trinamool leader Joyprakash Majumdar.
Speaking on the occasion, Parno Mittra said, “I had joined the BJP at one point. However, things did not progress the way I had expected. To err is human. Under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, I want to work afresh as a member of the Trinamool Congress.”
TMC leader Joyprakash Majumdar stated that Parno has been actively involved in politics since 2019. She also contested the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections. However, she had not been seen actively participating in BJP party programs for a long time.
Notably, Parno Mittra began her acting career in 2007. She started on television with Ravi Ojha’s serial Khela. She was introduced to the big screen by Anjan Dutt and played the lead role in Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona. Her filmography includes Bedroom, Maach Mishti & More, Rajkahini, Alinagarer Golokdhadha, Apu’r Panchali, Anko Ki Kothin, among others.
