Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur on Monday announced the formation of a Tk 900 crore fund aimed at supporting new entrepreneurs in the country.
The announcement came during the opening session of a four-day investment summit held at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka.
Dr. Mansur stated that the fund will be exclusively allocated to provide capital support to new entrepreneurs and will be disbursed through commercial banks. He added that the fund will offer low-interest financing to keep the economy vibrant and inclusive.
The central bank is also continuing its entrepreneur development initiatives, including skills development training programs, to help aspiring business leaders, he noted.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s growing potential, the Governor said, “Bangladesh is not only a hub for trade but also an attractive destination for investment. Though 95 percent of startups may fail, we are confident that with continued government support, many will eventually succeed.”
The opening session was attended by Fayez Ahmed Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister’s Principal Advisor; Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA); and Shish Hayder Chowdhury, Secretary of the ICT Division, alongside local entrepreneurs and foreign investors.
