Chattogram district administration recovered railway property worth Tk20 crore by demolishing illegal structures. Later this
property was handed over to
the railway authorities. But
after an hour, local leaders recaptured that recovered properties.
It is known that on Thursday from morning to noon, the district administration rescued about 300000 square meters of illegally built shops and structures on railway land in the Newmarket area adjacent to the Port City’s City College.
Later, Chattogram District Administration Executive Magistrate Masud Rana explained the property to the railway administration.
An hour later the illegal occupants took possession again.
Chandgaon Circle Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate, Masud Rana told media that about 20 crore worth of property was recovered in the raid and handed over to the Railways.
For a long time, some unscrupulous traders were doing business by building these shops illegally. Following the application of the railways, the Deputy Commissioner ordered the eviction operation.
Sujan Chowdhury, Chief Land Officer of Railway Eastern Zone, said, “We will explain to the engineering department by rescuing the vacated land of the railway. The rest is their responsibility. If the evacuated area is occupied then we will conduct operations there again.”
