Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam on Monday revealed that the government has allocated Tk 637.8 crore to support the families of martyrs and those injured during the July-August uprising.
Each martyr’s family will receive savings certificates worth Tk 30 lakh, while the injured will be compensated with amounts ranging from Tk 1 lakh to Tk 5 lakh. The announcement was made via a post on his verified Facebook account.
Of the total allocation, Tk 232.6 crore will be sourced from the current fiscal year’s budget, with the remaining funds to be allocated in the 2025-26 fiscal year’s budget starting in July.
Nahid Islam further mentioned that each martyr’s family will initially receive a Tk 10 lakh savings certificate in January, followed by an additional Tk 20 lakh in July.
Injured individuals will not only receive financial compensation but will also have their related medical expenses covered over time.
The July Mass Upsurge Directorate, operating under the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, has been assigned to manage the entire process.
