UNB, Dhaka :The Parliament Secretariat Commission on Wednesday approved an estimated budget of Tk 203.78 crore for theJatiya Sangsad for fiscal 2015-’16.The commission at its 26th meeting, held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, approved the budget for non-development and development sectors of the Bangladesh National Parliament.Chaired by Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, the meeting was attended, among others, by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad, Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Chief Whip ASM Feroz, and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq.Of the amount, Tk 197,13,43000 was approved for the non-development sector, while the remaining Tk 6,65,00,000 for the development sector of parliament.Besides, the commission approved the revised budget of fiscal 2014-‘ 15, and discussed the implementation progress of the decisions taken in its 25th meeting.After the meeting, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin told reporters that the Parliament Secretariat collected from the Housing and Public Works Ministry some original designs made by architect Louis I Khan for parliament, which are being now displayed on the ground floor of the Parliament Bhaban.The Parliament Secretariat will also collect the remaining designs of the parliament from the Louis I Khan’s firm for which the meeting estimated a cost of $ 4,59,000 dollars, she said.But the estimated cost of $4,59,000 is not the final one as it will be revised after examining it, the Speaker added.She said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the meeting that money is not a big deal. “The remaining designs of Louis I Khan must be collected as the Parliament is our heritage site.”
