Titumir College students block Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway

NN Online:
Students of Titumir College have blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Amtali, Mohakhali, to press home their demand for official state recognition of Titumir College as a university.
The protesting students of Titumir College took to the streets with a procession and blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Sunday evening, at around 6:30pm. The roadblock resulted in the complete halt of traffic on the highway, leaving passengers stranded and facing significant delays.
Earlier on Sunday, during a press briefing at his office following an Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting, Education Adviser Professor Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud said there is no scope for giving special privileges to Titumir College and the demand to upgrade Titumir College into a university within the students’ given deadline is not logical.
It is noteworthy that students of Titumir College have been on a continuous hunger strike for five consecutive days, demanding university recognition.
