Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket squad will leave for the United Arab Emirates today to take part in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held at the different venues in the UAE from October 3 to October 20.
Though Emirates Cricket Board will arrange the mega cricket event for women but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has all rights including financial rights of the gala extravaganza.
Before taking part in the forthcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the Tigresses will play two warm-up matches. Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the first warm-up match on September 28.
The Tigresses will face Pakistan in the second warm-up match on September 30.
It may be mentioned that before playing in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Bangladesh ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team played five T20 matches against Sri Lanka ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team.
Most of the cricketers of Bangladesh National Cricket squad took part in the five-match T20 series wearing jerseys of Bangladesh ‘A’ Cricket team against Sri Lanka ‘A’ Cricket team. They finished their Sri Lanka campaign with a happy note as they won the series 4-1.
A total of ten teams splitting into two groups will take part in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are in Group-A, while Bangladesh, Scotland, England, South Africa and West Indies are in Group-B.
Bangladesh will take on Scotland in the inaugural match on October 3, meet England on October 5, face West Indies on October 10, play against South Africa on October 12.
Top two teams from each group will get the tickets of the semi-finals. The first semi-final will be held on October 17, while the second semi-final will be held on October 18.
The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final on October 20.
