Tigresses take on Lanka today

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team will take on Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team in their 6th match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Cup at Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra of India today. The match will start at 3:30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live. Captain of Tigresses Nigar Sultana Joty will lead her outfit, while Captain of Sri Lanka Cricket team Chamari Athapaththu will lead her team. This World Cup matches are rolling on ODI format.

Before today’s match, Bangladesh women faced Sri Lanka women in three ODI matches. Of them, Sri Lanka won two matches, while one match ended without any result.

Bangladesh took the sixth position in the points table collecting two points from five matches, while Sri Lanka took the seventh spot in the points table earning two points from as many outings. Though Bangladesh and Sri Lanka bagged same points but by virtue of better run rate Bangladesh took the better position.

Bangladesh made a good start in the ICC Women’s World Cup defeating Pakistan by seven wickets in their first match on October 2.

The Tigresses tasted a four-wicket loss to England Lionesses in their second match on October 7.
Bangladesh suffered a 100-run defeat to New Zealand in their third match on October 10.

The Tigresses lost to South Africa by three wickets in their fourth match after giving a heroic fight on October 13.

Bangladesh tasted a huge 10-wicket defeat to Australia in their fifth match on October 16.
Sri Lanka had a poor start in the ICC Women’s World Cup as they lost to India by 59 runs in their first match on September 30.

The match between Sri Lanka and Australia was abandoned due to rain on October 4. It was Sri Lanka’s second match.

Sri Lanka tasted an 89-run defeat to England women in their third match on October 11.

The match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was washed out due to heavy rain on October 14. It was Lanka’s fourth match.

The Islanders tasted a massive 10-wicket defeat to South Africa in their fifth match on October 17.

The right-handed batter Sobhana Mostary of Bangladesh could be a key player in this clash. She has scored 161 runs in five innings, contributing the bulk of her team’s runs in the tournament so far. Mostary has the ability to play long innings and anchor the game, potentially taking her team forward when it matters most.

The left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera of Sri Lanka could be the key bowler in this clash. She has claimed seven wickets in four matches at an impressive average of 14.71. Her full 10-over spells will be crucial and have the potential to turn the game single-handedly in Sri Lanka’s favour.
