Tigresses take on India in first semi of Women’s T20 Asia Cup today

Motivated Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team will take on favourites India National Women’s Cricket team today in the first semi-final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka. The first semi-final will start at 2:30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite channel GTV and private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live.
The Tigresses became runners-up in the Group-B collecting four points from three matches.
On the other hand, India emerged the champions in the Group-A grabbing maximum six points from three matches.
On the way to semi-final, the Tigresses had a painful start as they lost to hosts Sri Lanka by seven wickets in their first Group-B match at the same venue on July 20.
Bangladesh came out from their bad position as the Tigresses thrashed Thailand by seven wickets in their second Group-B match at the same venue on July 22.
Bangladesh confirmed their semi-final berth crushed Malaysia by 114 runs in their third Group-B match at the same venue on July 24.
On the way to semi-final, India made an auspices start as they defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in their first Group-A match at the same venue on July 19.
India retained their winning streak as they thrashed the United Arab Emirates by 78 runs in their second Group-A match at the same venue on July 21.
India finished their Group-A campaign with a happy note as they beat Nepal by 82 runs in their third Group-A match at the same venue on July 23.
Captain of Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team Nigar Sultana said, ” I have confidence about my team. I think our team are good side. If we give hundred percent tomorrow, I hope we can do something well.”
Prolific opener of India National Women’s Cricket team Shafali Varma said, ” We have worked hard in the field. I hope we can do well in all the three departments (batting, bowling, fielding) against Bangladesh. Our batting unit is enough strong and we showed it earlier. The bowlers bowl well in the net. But we need more perfections.”
