Bangladesh Cricket team will take on West Indies Cricket team in their first One Day International (ODI) match today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur. The match will start at 1:30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live.
Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead the Tigers, while Captain of West Indies Cricket team Shai Hope will lead his team. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shai Hope took part in the trophy-unveiling programme of the three-match ODI series at historic Lalbagh Fort in the city on Friday.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and West Indies faced each other in 47 ODI matches. Of them, Bangladesh recorded 21 victories, while West Indies won in the 24 occasions and rest of the two matches ended without any result.
Bangladesh head into another ODI series after their 3-0 whitewash against Afghanistan just a few days back. The West Indies tour would be more of a cleanser for the Mehidy Hasan Miraz-led team as they will seek revival.
Soumya Sarkar makes the cut in the squad with Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, and Tanzid Hasan forming the batting top. The skipper, alongside Jaker Ali and Rishad Hossain, might be the middle strength. The pace battery will be headed by Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed.
West Indies is set to play its penultimate ODI series against Bangladesh this year. The Shai Hope-led team will be high on confidence after coming off fresh victories against Pakistan in the ODI series.
The squad consists of names like Keacy Carty, Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford for the batting segment. Roston Chase and Romario Shepherd will form the all-rounder core, while Gudakesh Motie, Jayden Seales will be leading the bowling department.
