Tigers whitewash Pakistan in Test series

Bangladesh National Cricket team whitewashed Pakistan National Cricket team 2-0 in the two-match Test series as the Tigers defeated the hosts by six wickets on the Day 5 play of the second Test cricket match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan on Tuesday.

It was a historic Test series victory for the Tigers as they for the first time won a Test series against Pakistan.

The tourists eased past the home side by 10 wickets in the first Test at the same venue on August 25.

The Day 1 play of the second Test cricket match was called off due to rain and wet outfield on Friday.

Sent into bat first, Pakistan piled up a fighting total of 274 in the first innings on the second day (Saturday).

In reply, Bangladesh notched up 262 in the first innings on the third day (Sunday). Prolific batter Litton Das top-scored with 138 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his terrific innings.
Pakistan were bundled out for 172 in the second innings on the fourth day (Monday).

Chasing 185 runs to win, the Tigers sailed home making exact 185 for the loss of four wickets on the fifth and final day (Tuesday).

Bangladesh resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 42 for the loss of none. Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 31 and nine runs respectively.

Zakir Hasan could add more nine runs on the fifth day as he (40) was bowled out by Mir Hamza when Bangladesh’s score was 58.

Shadman Islam could add more 15 runs on the final day as he (24) was caught at the mid-off by Shan Masood off Khurram Shahzad when the tourists’ total was 70 for the loss of two wickets.

After Shadman’s dismissal, first-down Najmul Hossain Shanto and second-down Mominul Haque mended the innings contributing together 57 runs for the third wicket partnership before Shanto was caught at the short leg by Abdullah Shafique off Agha Salaman when the Tigers’ score was 127 for the loss of three wickets.

Shanto made 38 runs from 82 deliveries featuring five fours. After Shanto’s departure, Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim built a remarkable partnership scoring together 26 runs in the four-wicket stand before Mominul Haque was caught at the mid-on by Saim Ayub off Abrar Ahmed when the visitors’ total was 153 for the loss of four wickets.

Mominul Haque scored 34 runs from 71 balls hitting four fours.
Then, third-down Mushfiqur Rahim and fourth-down Shakib Al Hasan helped their side to anchor the winning spot adding together 32 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket partnership.

Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 22 runs, while Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten with 21 runs.

Salman Agha, Abrar Ahmed, Khurram Shahzad and Mir Hamza took one wicket each conceding 17, 40, 40 and 46 runs respectively.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz was adjudged the Man of the Series for his all-round performance.

He scored altogether 155 runs in the two Tests and captured altogether 10 wickets in two Tests against Pakistan.
