The Tigers want to whitewash the Caribbeans in the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series as they want to earn victory against the hosts in the third T20I at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown of West Indies today. The match will start at 6:00am (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports and private satellite channel Nagorik TV will telecast the match live. Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das will lead Bangladesh as Captain, while Rovman Powell will lead West Indies as the skipper.
Bangladesh have already clinched the T20I series 2-0.
The touring side edged past the home side by 7 runs in the first T20I at the same venue on December 16.
The visitors eased past the hosts by 27 runs in the second T20I at the same venue on December 18.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and West Indies faced each other in the 18 T20I matches. Of them, the Tigers registered seven victories, while the Caribbeans posted nine wins and rest of the two matches ended without any result.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh batter Soumya Sarkar has been ruled out for approximately three weeks following a finger injury sustained during the second T20 International against the West Indies in Kingstown on Wednesday.
Head Coach of Bangladesh Phil Simmons said, “Bangladesh have secured the series in the shortest format with one match in hand. This is Bangladesh’s first T20I series win against the Caribbean after six years.” The Tigers’ Windies Coach wants to complete the celebration by whitewashing this time.
Simmons said, “The way I work after taking charge of a team, I am doing the same here. I don’t know if they can whitewash Caribbeans. It’s important to win the series. I want to win the last game. I want to finish the series with a win and go home happy. It doesn’t matter which team the boys are playing against, they should know what they are doing.”
He also said, “Even if we don’t win any match in the ODI series, we came here and discussed how we can win. In the first match and in the second, this time I will sit with the third match. We have the ability to win.”
