Bangladesh-India 1st Test: Tigers to face uphill task

India National Cricket team notched up a satisfactory 376 runs in the first innings on the Day 2 play against Bangladesh National Cricket team in their first Test cricket match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.

Bangladesh were bundled out for 149 in their first innings on the second day.
The home side were at the stumps at 81 for the loss of three wickets.

Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant were on 33 and 12 runs respectively before the two umpires drew the bails.
Bangladesh were trailed by 308 runs.

India resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 339 for the loss of six wickets.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 102 runs and 86 runs respectively.

Jadeja could not add any run on the second day as he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Litton Das off Taskin Ahmed when India’s score was 343 for the loss of seven wickets.

After Jadeja’s dismissal, Akash Deep came at the crease but he could stay for a short period as he (17) was bowled out by Taskin Ahmed when the hosts’ total was 367 for the loss of eight wickets.

After Deep’s departure, Ravichandran Ashwin, who could add 11 runs on the second day as he (113) was caught at the mid-off by Najmul Hossain Shanto off Taskin Ahmed when India’s score was 374 for the loss of nine wickets.

Hasan Mahmud struck as Jasprit Bumrah (7) was caught at the third slip by Zakir Hasan off right-arm pacer when the home side’s innings came to an end. It was five-wicket haul for the promising pacer of Bangladesh.

Taskin Ahmed was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh on the second day who captured three wickets in the space of 55 runs.

Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Shadman Islam (2) was bowled out by Jasprit Bumrah when the touring side’s score was just two.

Zakir Hasan, the other opener also failed as he (3) was bowled out by Akash Deep when Bangladesh’s total was 22 for the loss of two wickets.

Second-down Mominul Haque (0) was bowled out by Akash Deep when Bangladesh’s score was 22 for the loss of three wickets.

Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto failed to shine with the willow as he (20) he was caught at the second slip by Virat Kohli off Mohammed Siraj when the touring side’s total was 36 for the loss of four wickets.

Mushfiqur Rahim (8) was caught at the second slip by KL Rahul off Bumrah when Bangladesh’s score was 40 for the loss of five wickets.

Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das built a remarkable partnership contributing together 51 runs in the six-wicket stand before Litton Das (22) was caught by at the long leg by substitute DC Jurel off Ravindra Jadeja when the Tigers’ total was 91 for the loss of six wickets.

Then the tourists’ failed to make any remarkable partnership.
Shakib Al Hasan (32) was victim of Ravindra Jadeja, Hasan Mahmud ((9) was victim of Bumrah, Taskin (11) was dismissed by Bumrah, Nahid Rana (11) was victim of Mohammed Siraj and Bangladesh’s innings was concluded.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten with 27 runs.

Bumrah captured four wickets at the cost of 50 runs, while Jadeja, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each.
Then, India failed to make a notable score on the second day.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) was dismissed by Nahid Rana, opener Rohit Sharma (5) was victim of Taskin Ahmed, Virat Kohli (17) was trapped leg before wicket by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
