BD-Pak 1st Test: Tigers to face daunting task

Bangladesh National Cricket team will face a daunting task as Pakistan National Cricket team declared their first innings making 448 for the loss of six wickets on Day 2 play of the first Test cricket match against the Tigers at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi of Pakistan on Thursday.

In reply, Bangladesh were at the stumps at 27 for the loss of none.
Opener Shadman Islam was on 12, while opener Zakir Hasan was on 11 before the bails were drawn for the second day.

Bangladesh trailed the first innings by 421 runs.
Pakistan resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 158 for the loss of four wickets. Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 57 and 24 runs respectively.
They put on together 240 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Saud Shakeel was stumped out by Litton Das off Mehidy Hasan Miraz when Pakistan’s total was 354 for the loss of five wickets.

Saud Shakeel notched up a sedate 141. His 261-ball innings was studded with nine fours. It was his third century in his Test career.

After departure of Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan and fifth-down Agha Salman scored together 44 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Agha Salman (19) was caught at the backward point by Mehidy Hasan Miraz off Shakib Al Hasan when Pakistan’s score was 398 for the loss of six wickets.

Mohammad Rizwan and sixth-down Shaheen Shah Afridi built another notable partnership scoring together 50 runs in the unbroken seven-wicket stand before Pakistan’s Captain Shan Masood declared their first innings.
Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten with 171 runs. He hit 11 fours and three sixes in his 239-ball innings. It was his third century in his Test career.

Shaheen Shah Afridi remained unbeaten with 29. His 24-ball innings had two sixes and one four.

Right-arm spinner Mahidy Hasan Miraz and left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan got success with the cherry taking one wicket each for 80 and 100 runs respectively.
