The Tigers scored 69 for the loss of two wickets in the rain-interrupted Day 1 play against the Caribbeans in the second Test match at the Sabina Park in Jamaica of West Indies on Saturday. Bangladesh were riding on Shadman Islam’s unbeaten half-century.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy (3) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva off Kemar Roach when the tourists’ total was just eight.
One-down Mominul Haque (0) was caught behind by Jashua Da Silva off Kemar Roach when Bangladesh’s score was 10 for the loss of two wickets.
After Mominul’s departure, opener Shadman Islam and second-down Shahadat Hossain put on together 59 runs for the unbroken third wicket partnership before the bails were drawn for the opening day.
Shadman Islam remained unbeaten with 50 runs. He struck three fours and a sixer in his 100-ball innings. It was Shadman Islam’s fifth half-century in Test cricket.
Shahadat Hossain remained unbeaten with 12 runs.
Pacer Kemar Roach was the day’s most successful batter. He captured two wickets at the cost of 20 runs.
