Bangladesh scored 107 for the loss of three wickets in a rain-interrupted Day 1 play of the second Test match against India at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur of India on Friday. Only 35 overs were bowled on the opening day of the second Test due to rain, wet outfield and badlight.

Sent into bat first, Tigers’ openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam began their first innings with an unhappy note as Zakir Hasan (0) was caught at the slip by Yashasvi Jaiswal off Akash Deep when Bangladesh’s score was just 26.

After Zakir Hasan’s dismissal, Shadman Islam could not stay at the crease for a long period as he was trapped leg before wicket by Akash Deep when the tourists’ total was 29 for the loss of two wickets.
Shadman Islam scored 24 from 36 balls featuring four fours.

After Shadman’s dismissal, one-down Mominul Haque and second-down Najmul Hossain Shanto repaired the damage contributing together 51 runs for the third wicket partnership before Shanto was trapped leg before wicket by Ravichandran Ashwin when the Tigers’ score was 80 for the loss of three wickets.
Shanto made 31 using 57 deliveries including six fours.

After Shanto’s departure, Mominul Haque and third-down Mushfiqur Rahim added together 27 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership before the rain halted the first day play.

Mominul Haque remained unbeaten with 40 runs. He hit seven fours in his 81-ball knock.
Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with six runs.

Akash Deep captured two wickets at the cost of 34 runs in his 10 overs with four maiden overs.
Ravichandran Ashwin picked up one wicket for 22 runs.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh lost to India by 280 runs in the first Test match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 22.

The Tigers have to win this Test if they want to avoid the series defeat. The two-match Test series between Bangladesh and India is a part of ICC World Test Championship.
